What is with the obsession of social-democrats in Sweden and Denmark about breaking encryption?

The core assumption: the common good is more important than individual rights i would assume.

    3. My conspiracy theory is that these politicians have been influenced in secret meetings with american security agents. Denmark has a tight relationship with USA, we are a small country, we a completely dependent on external military protection. The US has a big base in Greenland and no doubt has special surveillance and data monitoring agreements with Denmark, and they have an interest in preventing the public from using encrypted messaging services.

I think before we start coming with all sorts of conspiracies about the various wings we should remember that a lot of this comes from boomers, usually with low tech backgrounds

A lot of those people over here have that attitude that: “Well I’m not a criminal do why should I care. And I mean if it reduces crime it wouldn’t be too bad” and the like. At least in my little corner of Jylland

Considering what all ruling parties have done the last 25 years, I think it is unfair to pin it on social democrats. It is disgusting none the less.

Because it’s the EU politicians who indirectly created this crime wave, now want to pretend they care and want to “help us” by removing more of our rights.

They are stupid as fuck, but it’s just another way to get hard on organized crime, and terror cells.

it gets votes, and normal people cant comprehend the consequences.

That they are totalitarian bastards that should be forced to shit with the bathroom door Open for the rest of their miserable lives.

Really simple: voters. We have a huge amount of Baby Boomers in both the swedish and danish society.
Bommers don’t understand tech or encryption – so even though the social-democrats solution to the problem is unrealistic, impossible and outright dumb, they still push it since that’s what the baby boomers wanna hear. Sad but true, most politics today is designed to satisfy boomers.

    10. There was a recent case where young immigrants were contracted to perform hit pieces in Copenhagen. These ‘jobs’ were issued in an encrypted setting. So my guess is that it is a response to this kind of behavior. It is sacrificing everybody’s right to privacy, to combat a real problem from criminals.

I suspect that ir mainly has to do with the situation in Sweden, which is very serious.

Both criminals and foreign hostile nations are using encrypted services to plan and recruit people to do crime or terror. I suspect norway is going to follow suit.

The point is mostly, that if a judge order information released about someone, the companies need to give that information to the police so they can make a full search of the criminal behaviour.

If you can’t reach such a deal with a service the only other option is to ban it, but how they will do that, i don’t know.
