Stavo guidando sulla N840 tra Nijmegen e Millingen a/d Rijn quando ho superato questo edificio lungo la strada. Qualcuno conosce lo scopo (originale) di questo edificio?
Il primo pensiero è stato un dijkhuisje, ma non c’è acqua nelle vicinanze e sulla sinistra (sulla finestra murata) c’è scritto "lavori elettrici provinciali".

It says “Provincial Electricity Works”, so probably a substation for electricity.
Seems to have been an “elektriciteitshuisje” (don’t know the proper English term for it), part of the Provinciale Geldersche Elektriciteits Maatschappij. It was part of the electricity infrastructure, elektriciteitshuisjes usually contain things like transformers to make the power suitable for home use.
It’s a substation located in the [Ooijpolder](https://nl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ooijpolder) the reason it’s raised it’s because that polder was a marsh which was prone to flooding. It’s was raised to protected from the floods.
