      >Contaminated meat from the five affected farms may no longer be sold. This has been decreed by the cantonal authorities.

      >A transitional period applies to meat from cows that lived on the farms before 1 August 2024. It may still be utilised, as the corresponding limit value has only been in force since this month.

      >The authorities suspect that the reason for the contamination is sewage sludge, which was previously used to fertilise the fields. This has been banned since 2007.

      >PFAS are a problem throughout Switzerland, according to the canton of St. Gallen. Its authorities are therefore calling for nationwide measures. The issue has already reached the Federal Council: The Federal Council is currently examining whether Switzerland needs a national action plan.

      But why only meat? If the chemicals came into the cows, they are in the ground or in the water. So every salad, carrot, potato, etc has to have them
