They are so lucky they didn’t find oil, because America would have to bring them “Freedom”

If Serbs are fed up with their government being corrupt and not caring about the environment, they should stop electing those politicians. It’s not our job to ensure democracy in Serbia.

I really don’t understand EU leaders. They are clearly against Nato , EU , against putting any sanctions toward Russia and yet they smother Vucic with anything he needs. I just hope we won’t be the next Ukraine.

    6. All one big mafia. Vučić is what Pablo Escobar wanted to be. He controls all criminal activities in Serbia, including the drug business. It’s disgusting to see what kind of crooks are running the countries.

Will/can Serbia use this as a bargaining chip to get quicker EU membership?

Or do serbs even want to join the EU?

    8. Eminence_grizzly on

… and the next day they left, Vucic said the West organized the anti-lithium protests, lol.

How does it feel, Westerners? To have another’s soil demolished so you can ride your fancy electric cars and have smartphone’s ran on someone else’s bloody-earned lithium? Sold to you for dirt cheap, by the way!

All of that to have a beautiful river, such as Drina, and the nearby landscapes completely erased and a total population intoxicated by the byproducts of lithium excavation.

Of course, you would never want a project like that on your soil, now would you?

The double standards I see on this sub. People cheering for lithium mining in Serbia, meanwhile being against it in their own Western country. Good for you all!

Macron is the best mayor we’ve ever had in Novi Sad. The moment he announced his visit the city services actualy started doing their job and the city was cleaned, greened and restored to what it should always look like(at least the streets hes going to be in).

    11. We don’t care about your lithium. We’re here to sell RAFALES !

    12. Landrayi on

Macron is in Serbia right now, and the main topics between Vucic and Macron are LIthium, Nuclear energy, Kosovo, and an agreevement on Serbia buyng French Rafale military planes.

Won’t this seriously erode and pollute a beautiful landscape for money yet again? Hugely disappointing

    14. Ihavenofriendshehe on

Well, gotta support the oppressive guy when you know he will be exporting lithium for low prices in the next few years hahaha

They will even forgive him for loving Russia, just so they do not have to mine it in their countries but ruin Serbia.

French friendship is bought through Rafales. They seem to be pretty open about it.

Is The EU going to “Liberate” Serbia US style? 😂

    17. BarryScott2019 on

The lithium mining project which is unpopular in the country could meet 90% of all current EU lithium needs. Not only that, but these countries want a good relationship with Serbia as it acts as a large route for migrants into central Europe, with Frontex working in Serbia as part of the EUs border control. And keeping a good relationship in the Balkans is crucial, especially in preventing a repeat of the 1990 Balkan wars, and reducing Russian influence in the region.
