“I really want to end this war. I don’t want our children to go to war.”

Yana Zalevska, a 23-year-old servicewomen of the 59th Brigade, was wounded in Donetsk region by a Russian drone.

Yana is from Kherson. During the occupation of the city, she attended rallies against Russia, and in the same year, she decided to go to the front. Yana was a combat medic for eight months, and in May 2023, she became a drone operator.

Yana’s father is also a Defender and has been fighting since 2014. She is also supported by her mother and daughter.

Yana is currently undergoing treatment and is waiting to return to the front.

An incredible person. A rare breed having that much courage and depth of responsibility at that age. I was an idiot when I was 23. Ukraine has got them some serious heroes.
