>**In a groundbreaking operation, Poland’s Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police (CBŚP) has shut down the largest drug laboratory ever discovered in the European Union, seizing nearly 200 kilograms of methadone.**

>The joint operation, conducted in collaboration with Ukrainian law enforcement, marks a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking.

>The massive drug lab, located in Poland, was identified as one of the largest facilities producing methadone in the EU. Alongside this main lab, authorities raided eight smaller sites in Poland and Ukraine where synthetic narcotics were being produced and stored.

>In total, law enforcement conducted searches at 38 locations linked to the drug ring. The operation resulted in the seizure of 195 kilograms of methadone, over 150 kilograms of a substance known as Alfa-PVP, and more than 400 liters of drug mixtures ready for processing.

>Seven individuals have been detained and are currently in custody following court orders.

>Methadone, a synthetic opioid, is primarily used in medicine as a potent painkiller and in the treatment of opioid addiction. However, the methadone produced by the dismantled drug lab was in a highly concentrated crystalline form, intended for the illegal drug market. Medical experts estimate that the 195 kilograms of crystalline methadone seized could represent a lethal dose for nearly 4 million people.
