How the First Bell in Ukraine went
Veterans and military took children to first grade
The first lessons in Kharkiv took place in the subway
In some regions in vaults
The children of defenders performed in the flags of their units
But they remembered the dead school graduates
Some went to first grade with a photo of their deceased father
At the Kyiv Lyceum, debris damaged part of the building, therefore the First Bell did not take place there
Veterans told children about their experiences
Ukraine’s freedom has not yet perished, nor has her glory,
Upon us, fellow Ukrainians, fate shall smile once more.
Our enemies will vanish like dew in the sun,
And we too shall rule, brothers, in a free land of our own.
Some of those kids will be defending Ukraine in a few years. Hopefully Ukraine will have driven Russia out by then.
