I don’t think America will bail you out this time Mario.

      > while common borrowing is needed to fund defense

Borrow to pay defence? Isn’t this guy supposed to be a great economist

I will never understand why we absolutely refused to invest into the country while interest rates were at almost zero and there was no sign of inflation anywhere. Boggles my mind.

What’s this? Are we finally going to end the madness that is austerity?

Quite a good report actually, read a bit about it. Now let’s see if Ursula also comes to the conclusion she should have done the exact opposite of what they have been doing.

I am afraid there will be no benefit to Europe without strong IT companies. They should be on one place like Silicone Valley where it’s easy to hire people. Strong IT, AI center is the basis for future growth. Europe has SAP which is politically broken and stuck in the past. Right now is almost imposible to create a successful IT company in Europe. Solution is to copy USA or China otherwise Europe will fail again with very high debt. Managers without vision should be removed from big companies.

      > He calls for AI to be integrated “into our existing industries so that they can stay at the front.”

Companies always say this, but generative AI is not a silver bullet. On its own, it won’t fix anything. If a company is slipping behind or losing competitiveness, then just slapping some own-brand version of Google Gemini on top isn’t going to improve anything save for the short-term personnel budget.

Outside of very specific companies operating under very particular conditions, there just aren’t enough use cases for *”integrate AI!”* to be such an ever-present suggestion.

Of course it would end in a call for common debt, as everyone expected. It’s never going to be accepted by Northern European voters, and rightfully so

    8. No, clearly what we need is to outsource industry, let our infrastructure crumble and garbage pile up on the streets and then blame some foreigners for our countries going to shit. It is tradition. The black zero must be preserved. All hail the zero.

It is amusing to see how attitudes to military spending have changed so drastically.

It will not only take billions, but years and years.

Many Europeans have fetish for austerity (cultural issue?) even thought it’s a killer of economical recovery in both short and long run. Americans understand that to make money you often gotta spend it first
