The French defence industry i doing really well as of late. If I remember correctly Dassault already has a full 10 years backlog worth of orders.
Interesting also how the almost equivalent EuroFighter typhoon is not doing nearly as good, if anyone knows more about this I’d be very curious, thank you 🙂

The question is why? What threat does Peru face (short and long term)? This is huge waste of money and resources.

That doesn’t sound believable at all…
They literally just finished their study into even acceptable platforms just 2 months ago. July 8th they finished that review.
From there it enters negotiations with all bidders to discuss costs, offsets, delivery windows, maintenance contracts, etc. To wrap all that up in just 2 months and literally the only organization that has the scoop is meta-defense.fr? Yeah okay…
Nevermind the author claims reports indicated the Rafale was the favorite, which is a blatant lie. Reports in fact stated the Rafale and South Korea’s KF-21 were the 2 top choices. Rafale because of Peru’s use of Mirage 2000s, and KF-21 because Peru just joined the supply chain for South Korea’s T-50 trainer/light attack aircraft, and are in the final stages of negotiations for 20+ T-50s from KAI (which also makes the KF-21), *and* recently bought TK-1 flight trainers from KAI only a few years ago.
