**From The Telegraph’s Europe Editor, James Crisp:**

The Crown Princess of Norway’s eldest son has been arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order imposed after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Marius Borg Hoiby’s lawyer said the 27-year-old was accused of contacting the victim once using a hidden phone number after police announced the arrest on Saturday.

Police now also suspect Mr Hoiby of crimes against three other victims – domestic abuse of two women and threats to another person – which he denies.

Mr Hoiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who was a single mother when she met the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon, who has raised his stepson since he was three.

Mr Hoiby, who has never held a royal title, was first arrested on Aug 4 at the woman’s apartment in Oslo. They were in a relationship at the time.

He is accused of causing her bodily harm, which can carry a sentence of up to a year in jail, and she was discharged from hospital the next day after being diagnosed with a concussion.

Local media said police found a knife stuck into one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom at the time.

Mr Hoiby was arrested on Friday at a cabin in the municipality of Gusdal, where he was on a hunting trip with friends. He was released on Saturday.

“At the beginning of September, police received information that Marius Borg Hoiby had, on several occasions, made unwanted contact with the woman, who has the status of victim in the incident,” police said on Saturday.

They “filed a report for reckless behaviour and imposed a restraining order on Hoiby”, it said.

They subsequently “received information that Hoiby had violated the restraining order” and he was rearrested late on Friday owing to the “risk of recurrence”.

Oyvind Bratlien, Mr Hoiby’s lawyer, said his client denied the allegations and that he should never have been arrested.

Isn’t it a bit goofy? Why even have a royal family if they still get arrested for violating commoners? Don’t get me wrong, I think everyone should have copied France and Russia in regards to royals, it’s just this middle-ground that I find stupid.

    3. Confirmed douchbag. All families have a black sheep.

“He is a commoner and the royal family has stated that “he shall not have a public role and is not a public figure.”

According to a close friend of the family, this affected his views on himself from an early age.

    4. It more and more sounds like a tragic story where the severity is more and more coming forward.

The Norwegian monarchy is not really on a good roll. Two weeks ago or so the older sister of the crown prince got married in a wedding sold to Netflix and closes off to national tv.

It seems so weird. She is still a princess and could have been head of state if Norwegians rules of succession had been changed a little earlier – in Sweden they changed it retrospectively so the younger brother won’t be king).

Even seen from neighbouring country it is starting to look really weird if you want to upheld a historical monarchy. With Marius it is slightly different since he ended up in the monarchy family in a random and probably unhealthy way and role.

What’s a crown princess of a son? And who is the son of Norway?

The French had the right approach towards their monarchy

    7. The black sheep of Norway. Poor boy, everyone looking at him and feels pity as he is the boy of the princess but not in the inner royal circle, I bet that messes up your head big time.

“Do you know who my father is!?!?” I wonder how many times he’s said that.

Check out the dome on that kid. The royal family inbred to the point they produced a Prince Beavis.

he looks exactly like the kind of guy that violates a restraining order

    11. Why does a person called ‘Norway’s son’ exist, and why does he have a lesbian crown princess?

Interesting how The Telegraph always has a bunch of facts that Norwegian outlets doesn’t have, and later turn out to not be true.

Last time it was that the victim was hospitalized overnight, which they seemingly just made up.
