I have so many negative feelings about this.

Like isn’t this crazy how easily they want to risk these peoples lives but not allow Ukraine to hit Russian airfields that are absolutely killing Ukrainian men with glide bombs? Or, and this one is on Poland in particular, shoot down missiles and drones in/near you airspace?

And recently Zelensky said he can only properly equip 4/14 new brigades. Do they expect them to be meat shields?

Not to mention no other male refugees get this treatment and it’s reminescent of the treatment fleeing Jews received during WW2.

legally they cant , poland can complain all they like but under EU law they cant

I mean even if they stop benefits that doesn’t mean they will return to Ukraine. Also what benefit they get?

They will find work, or try to get refugee status in western balkans, it is not EU, but it is better than battlefield.

There is a lot going on here. I was in the military and spent a few years in active combat (Medic).

First and foremost; what most people think is going on in the war in Ukraine, and what is really happening are not the same thing. Western media has really played up the narrative that Russia is lobbing endless waves of meat shields and Ukraine is not, that Ukraine is “winning”, and taking a lot fewer casualties. etc. etc. All of which really isn’t true.

All ground combat is messy, bloody, and ultimately a game of attrition on all sides. There has been a lot of hard-fought gains and losses, a lot of back and forth, where the line moves by a few meters at a time. That type of combat is absolutely brutal, a meat grinder. Essentially, all front-line infantries are meat shields in this conflict. The number of casualties reported on both sides are pure propaganda (which also happens in all conflicts), an accurate count likely will not be known until years after the war has ended. The reality of war is absolutely horrifying.

All that said I can’t blame ANYONE for not wanting to fight in this war. Russian or Ukrainian. As a war veteran myself, I personally believe that forced conscription, no matter the circumstances, no matter the side, is morally corrupt. Having done it myself, forcing someone to fight, kill, have limbs blown off and/or die in a war just not something I can support.

Anecdotal evidence: I see many able-bodied Ukrainian men in Warsaw every day, driving expensive cars, and partying at expensive hotels. I also have a few acquaintances of modest means that went back to Ukraine to fight. Coincidence? I think not.

As a Pole, I don’t support forcing people to go to war if they don’t want to

      > Ukraine almost 3 years in row have ENORMOUS decisit of all arms. Even few days ago Zelensky outright said that West promised weapons for 14 already trained brigades, but delivered for less than 4…

      > Western politicians 3 years in row talk about some abstract “soldiers shortage.”

“Poland” tells EU? What “Poland” all i see here is polish minister of foreign relationships making a suggestion. Thay should not be forced to go back, but incentivised. Christ that’s one very fucking clickbaity title.

    9. jakethegardenrake on

Wasn’t it the polish MP who quite happily said Poland took in 2 million Ukrainian refugees who work hard and integrate into society

    10. I wish the heaviest war to all those who mistreat Ukrainians, who want them to die in this cruel war, who pretend to help but act like enemies. I don’t think the Poles, who closed/slowed down the Ukrainian border for more than a year in the middle of the war and did not stand against it either as a government or as citizens, have the virtue to give moral lessons to anyone. If I were to curse someone, it would be enough to say, may God give you friends like the Poles.

This war was limited to the Russian-Ukrainian war because the Ukrainians had the honor of opposing the Russians. If they had surrendered easily like the Belarusians, the Poles would have shit their pants and gone to sleep instead of being brave.

Note: I am not Ukrainian, but I am a citizen of another country living in Ukraine.

How about sending home Russians, they enjoy western way of life in Europe while being pro-Putin and pro-war.

    12. Its crazy how some people advocate for sending people to potential death. Not everyone thinks a war is worth their life or a cause they would want to get killed for. We dont want this war to extend into a hot war (because its already been an asymmetrical war for decades), then we probably need to help more.

    13. Poland realizing taking in a million people wasn’t the best idea lol

    14. WorldEcho on

I agree they should want to help Ukraine but I don’t think cutting benefits is the right way to do it.

    15. Salarycheck12345 on

The EU (in actuality, the US) had enough opportunities to end this war.
Our stubbornness and superiority complex has resulted in countless lives lost on both sides.

Meanwhile western media feeding us disinformation that Russia is losing the war and Ukraine barely has any casualties is the icing on the cake.
Let alone the countless documented war crimes being committed by Ukraine that get no spotlight.

In xx years we”ll look back at this war and blame the US (once again) when everything comes to light.
But for the time being, let’s blame everything on Russia because Google tells us so 🙄

Funny how that came after the news that Ukraine is sending aid to Poland

    17. wojtekpolska on

clickbait title, all that happened was one minister suggested that eu makes incentives for ukrainians returning home

    18. Rubberdiver on

I question why Germany has to take the majority of refugees in general while shitholes like Hungary and others take none.

    19. coffeewalnut05 on

Trying to force people to go back to a war zone and fight in a war is just barbaric medieval crap. No thank you.

Ukraine has millions of women at home. It should conscript some of them instead of going through all of its men.

    21. kingbigv on

      This makes little sense

Men between 18-60 can’t leave Ukraine (legally). As you may have noticed, most Ukrianian refugees are women and children for that reason

They aren’t the ones who are going to be doing the fighting

    22. readilyunavailable on

The EU shouldn’t do that out of purely selfish reasons. It benefits us having these people immigrate and eventually assimilate into society, boosting the workforce.

I do hink it’s unfair to have some people sneak out of the war by virtue of being rich or knowing the right people. I can imagine how pisses off some soldiers, who are going into a 3rd year of war, would be knowing they have to endure the hell that is the front while their compatriots are chilling in Europe.

    23. supercilveks on

Now because of a certain passport a person has to go and die or become a cripple for life? What kind of free, democratic and friendly world mind bender is this?
