So how many more taxi drivers are going to start demanding cash-only after this?

    2. Jean_Rasczak on

Interesting I was talking to someone involved in public transport

They mentioned that public transport is up becuase people feel safer on it than in taxis. Mostly down to all the recent publicity of dodgy taxis

Throw in the massive cost for a taxi these days I expect to see a lot of crying from taxi drivers over the Christmas

Never will they ever be tipped again too. Just get the bus.

So when are my wages going up? This is getting completely out of hand. Im starting to always feel pinched even before mid month now.

At what point will it just be too expensive to do anything in Ireland?
I’ve a decent job but I’m absolutely skint every month after my mortgage, bills, groceries etc.
I don’t drink much and don’t do drugs, dunno how people afford the sesh anymore.

one of the big benefits of giving up the drink. No more Taxis.

I’ll stay in the suburbs and use the money for a babysitter instead

Some of those taxis are literally robbing bastards. Some of them have tried to pull the wool over my eyes, asking me “did I want my change” when coming home on nights out.

Fucking fantastic – Can’t get a taxi for love nor money in Monaghan Town and its absolutely decimated the nightlife and pub scene. Used to be there was 3 different taxi ranks and 4 nightclubs – now there’s no taxi’s, no public transport and guess what, no nightlife!

Every move this state makes seems to be to make us more insular and more fucking depressed..

For those of you who travel, are you seeing what Im seeing. Im pretty sure its more expensive to get a taxi in Dublin than in London

They should deregulate and open up to Uber properly. The price would drop hugely if they were to compete in an open market.

    12. SpunkyButts on

Ah great news. Taxi drivers do a difficult job under strenuous conditions. Sorry, I meant, taxi drivers are providing a great service at a reasonable price.
That doesn’t sound right actually, I thought we were talking about firefighters…. or nurses, or anyone other than taxi drivers. Can we not pay nurses more instead?

    13. senditup on

I’ll never understand why we won’t allow the likes of Uber to properly operate here.

    14. SpareZealousideal740 on

So it this that all taxi prices rise by 9% and there’s a special weekend rate now, or is it roses 9% cos of the special weekend rate but a trip midday during the week is the same price as now?

    15. d-fho-shizzle on

Honestly I live a small bit away from the major town near me if I want to go out it’s 40 euro of a taxi home now probably even more that’s even less a likely hood that I’ll go out over the Christmas festivities now

    16. emeraldisle9 on

Just when diesel prices are coming down?

Their insurance wouldn’t be so high if they didn’t drive like lunatics

    17. ZenBreaking on

We’re officially doing surge pricing Ticketmaster style cabs now are we?

*Gestures wildly at the dying niteclub scene all over Ireland*

    18. Ah they deserve every cent of it. Late night work needs to be appreciated appropriately. More luck to them.

    19. Toastface__Chillah on

I’m pissed off with it as a taxi man.. Means have to take my meter seal off, reprogramming the meter, re seal it (I’m outside Dublin so have to take a day to go and do that)
My regulars will still want the same price for a fare,
If a drunk lad is used to paying 20 quid to wet home and it’s now 23 he’s gonna think I’m robbing him and prob get me in shitty situation.
I’ve to re learn off the top of my head how much every town / village / estate is to the nearest euro to someone asking a price..

      Fuckin nta
