      The vehicle is a silver Nissan Qashqai with a 10 D 21328 registration and is understood to have a dog cage visible in its back window.

      The car sped off onto Dorset Street and a major alert is now in place in the northside of the capital.

      The suspect is understood to have been wearing dark clothing and a baseball hat.

      “This vehicle was last seen in the Mountjoy Square area of Dublin City Centre at approximately 1:50pm this afternoon.

      “Members of the public with any information are asked not to approach the vehicle but to report any information or sighting by calling 999/112.”

      I actually feel sick with anxiety after reading that. Everything crossed that the little one is returned safely. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through.

      Diabolical .  Sounds like a scumbag just wanted to rob the car .  Probably panicked when he saw the kid and abandoned it somewhere.
      Fucker needs to do serious time for not getting of the car as soon as he saw the kid.
       
      I’m hoping he didn’t take the car for any more sinister reason.

      We need to introduce Amber alerts like they have in some other countries.

      When I was living in Toronto, some kid about 12-13 got kidnapped on his way to school (turned out his older brother had a drug debt). Every single phone the entire greater Toronto area(and beyond if I recall), regardless of who your provider was etc etc, started going mental and beeping at full volume with it, as well as doing so a few times in the next hour or two with any further details that came out. The kid got dropped off very quickly and the scumbags obviously panicked and realised how fucked they were.

      My baby is the same age, sleeping soundly while my heart breaks for this girl and her Mam.

      Just a horrible situation.

      They should come down like a ton of bricks on something like that. In the US you’d probably get charged with kidnapping. No doubt we’ll probably let them off with a caution or a suspended sentence.

      City centre is just declining into a lawless mess – seems to be no consequence to increasingly horrendous behaviour.

      Best case scenario is that the guy sees the child and abandons the car and it’s a matter of finding it before something happens to the kid. If you are living or working in the area and want to help, just take a look around your estate or nearby car parks and call 112 if you see the car.
