Ah I see the great union of tankies, fascists and Russian trolls are already here to criticise a man fighting for democracy in the face of tyranny. May he rest in peace.

Fair play to him, a brave man fighting for what he believed to be right.

I always wonder with these articles mentioning various Irish men who have died fighting for Ukraine, there’s never any mention of Irish dying fighting for Russia. I’m sure there must be some Russian Irish that have been killed too?

Blood alone moves the wheels of history, it’s a pity that this man’s death was not in the service of Ireland but rather squandered by those who will not remember him tomorrow

May he rest in peace. Died fighting for a cause worth fighting for, while his detractors support a literal dictator.

A brave man.  An Irish hero . It’s very sad, but we can all be very proud that ireland produces such men.

Rest in peace forever, soldier, you have earned it.

I was good friends with this man growing up. He always had strong convictions, and I vividly recall that even as a youth, he wanted a life of action. He was never going to die without a cause or living life doing exactly what he believed in. He was an elite soldier, as far as I knew. I never knew he was fighting in Ukraine, though. Rest in peace, Rob.
