And yet if you reduce the cost to purchase said homes(will likely require government subvention), Bob the Builder doesn’t need to earn €100k to afford one while his wife also does and they juggle childcare so they can eventually become viable as we reduce costs.
But John & Mary don’t get their investment opportunity from that approach & Jürgens pension scheme is fucked too.
How is it that the rest of Europe (barring the UK to some extent) manages to do apartments and these islands cannot?

I’d love to see a breakdown of costs compared to other European countries.
Land price, architectural and engineering, labor, materials, fees and taxes, etc. I have a feeling the material costs will be significantly higher than the average.
