      I’d well believe it. Unless you actually surrender your license (voluntarily) and not drive, you’re going to go at it again.

      Need harsher punishments for folks caught.

      I wonder does this include breath samples or only samples that were sent in to the lab.

      I thought it’s an automatic ban from the road for more than a year ?

      The majority of those who break the law are repeat offenders and those caught drink driving will often times have other convictions.

      Someone with poor impulse control or lack of respect for the law usually doesn’t stick to one crime.

      I have lived in Ireland now for 8 years and feel sheepish to ask, but can anyone tell me is it a 0% alcohol and any alcohol on your system if tested by Garda results in fines/ suspension of licence etc. Or is there a alcohol limit? I’m from Australia where there is constant anti drink driving commercials on TV, radio, posters that explain that there is a 0.5% alcohol limit. If you blow over your in trouble and under your free to keep traveling.

      I have asked multiple people and no-one can give me a clear answer, also Googling it also gives not a clear answer. But because there is no defined answer this has change the way I drink. I do not even think about a drink if I think I have to take my car anywhere later. Irish people are very good at keeping people not get behind the wheel if they even have had one, being a designated driver is not a bad thing here.

      My wife (Irish) and I when we were last back in Australia noticed how my family and friends will not worry a bit about having “just one” and drive somewhere just after. I’m not missing having one or more drinks responsibly and driving after but is there a blood alcohol limit in Ireland if people are being caught there must be one?
