Mr Stanley said the complaint was lodged with Sinn Féin on 26 July, which was the day the nomination process opened for members seeking to run in the general election.
“This had the effect of preventing me from having any hope of contesting it as a Sinn Féin candidate for Laois,” he said.
Mr Stanley said he made Ms McDonald aware of the complaint on 29 July and he accused her of “giving wrong information by stating it (the complaint) was received on the 2 August.”

All this and the GE campaign hasn’t even officially kicked off yet.

Few more heads are going to roll in Sinn Fein over this.
This makes absolutely no sense. Stanley and Sinn Féin saying there was no criminality involved – why would Sinn Féin go to the Gardai if that was the case? Stanley could have went to the Gardai about his counter complaint at any time, yet didn’t.

I bet they wish for the ‘good old days’ now!
The issue would have been dealt with by Sunday morning and nobody would have been able to tell where the body was buried!
