Sarebbe perfetto come cantone svizzero e colmerebbe il vuoto tra il Ticino e il Vallese/Vallese. Il confine meridionale di questa provincia italiana è pieno di montagne (vedi seconda immagine) tranne una piccola striscia tra i due laghi (Lago Maggiore e Lago d’Orta), quindi sarebbe perfetto per un confine naturale
Ogni volta che vedo una mappa della Svizzera, penso, perché c’è un buco lì, perché gli svizzeri non l’hanno mai riempito? Sarebbe anche fantastico avere treni svizzeri diretti da Ginevra a Lugano via Sempione-Domodossola-Locarno

I think both suggestions are good, I don’t quite see the connection, but I like the energy of this post.
I’d rather have a canton with seafront, if we were to add one from our southern neighbours.

Just no. Nice nature and everything, but the amount of money it would take to bring up the whole infrastructure to Swiss standard (roads, railways, houses,…) would be massive. If we should’ve expanded, we should’ve taken the Voralberg.
It would cost us a fortune, being in the mountains and structurally weak.
I take Sardinia for 50.
