so many human lives were ruined for the stupid desires of one dictator

    2. It’s actualy quite pretty. With some renovation today could have been a hot spots for tourists.

But nooooo. Ceaușescu had to have his palace

I visited the palace, absolutely enormous and the tour guide said that we only covered 10% of it.

I’ve heard about people getting their ass chewed, but I never heard of someone ripping out Uranus!

Would be good to post an image of the palace for comparison, since it’s hard to wrap the size of that building in one’s head.

The Romanian parliament vs the Hungarian parliament building just shows you how big of a laughing stock the entire project was. You have one big ugly building where most the rooms are completely empty, and you have one absolutely stunning building built for barely anywhere near the price. Yes it was built centuries ago and they had that advantage, but dear god you could have made a much nicer building way smaller and it would have functioned then same.

Going from Bucharest to Budapest, you can so clearly tell which city had the more psychopathic dictator. Honestly Romania might have even been better off as an SSR Ceaușescu was so awful.

This could easily be a district in Sofia, Ruse or other northern Bulgarian cities. What a shame honestly, another piece of pre-communist heritage destroyed, just like Sofia’s city centre.

    8. Such streets are the esence of an european city and I love them
