This is the first time a Minister would be overseeing Animal Welfare alone.
Similar to the EU appointing a new EU Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare in September (first time as well).
The greyhound and horse racing lobby won’t allow this
Dogs Trust are a business. The financially benefit from this campaign. We adopted a very sick Rottweiler from them a couple of years ago and were fed a load of lies about her and her health. The poor thing could barely walk 
This was a high profile case with them where she was left tied to their gate late one night. It even made the main news at the time. They benefited so much from donations it was unreal.
I used to work in sales and know all the tricks. They used the same scams on myself and my wife.
Dogs trust can FRO in my opinion, they take money from REAL charities with their BS, advocates for collecting money and feathering their own nests IMHO.
Dogs Trust calls on Irish people to live on a 50 acre estate and not have a job before they let them adopt any dogs.
