**Key Findings**
* Detection rates for reported crime incidents, as measured in September 2024, for eight of the fourteen crime offence groups in 2023 were equal to or just below 2022 rates.
* By September 2024, 16% of reported crime incidents involving Sexual offences reported in 2022 had been detected. At the same time, the detection rate for crime incidents reported in 2023 was 8%.
* Over time, about a fifth of reported crime incidents involving Sexual offences lead to a charge or summons.
* The crime rate for the Dublin Metropolitan region in 2023 was generally higher than other regions, but the rate of detection was lower for most offence groups.
* Males were the suspected offender for most detected crime in 2023, particularly for offence groups such as Sexual offences (92%), Weapons & Explosives offences (92%), and Homicide & Related offences (91%). Females however were the suspected offender in just over a third (35%) of Theft & Related offences.
* Most suspected offenders for reported crime incidents in 2023 that have been marked as detected were aged between 18 and 44 years when the incident took place.

Are’nt men also less likely to report sexual offences from females than females are from males?
I won’t lie, I am shocked that the sex offense figures are 8% for women, that’s far higher than I thought.
In my early twenties I worked in bars and went through about a dozen different things every busy night that if one of the girls working went through it, the person doing would be thrown out and the Guards called straight away.
One of the local women who gladly stuck her hand down my trousers and grabbed my balls in full view of all her cackling friends is still known for it today, and is even a major player in the local “Darkness into Light” walk lol.

The detection and prosecution success rates are grim. And you wonder why people are hesitant to report crimes in the first place?
These figures are already underreported given that men don’t tend to report sexual assault and while they report more, women still don’t report enough either. Regardless of gender, once you do report a crime, it’s the assault survivor that usually ends up suffering the most consequences because of how tough it is to get justice in the first place and how lenient sentencing is for sex crimes.

Not really surprised. I am a man but like yeah, men commit most of every crime, I don’t think that’s really a feminist or controversial thing to say, anyone offended by that is a tard
I think it’s interesting that so many responses in this thread try to shine a light on female-led offences or to undermine the statistics. Regardless of minor percentage points, it is an apparent societal trend and it would be more useful to discuss how it can be addressed, what social supports do we need, how can we prevent people become perpetrators of assault, theft, etc. Our society is failing somewhere.
Would people have the same defensiveness if the same statistics were coming back against immigrants rather than just men as a group?
Fun fact. Female sex offenders (those convicted) can’t be accurately risk assessed on one of the main tools to do so (Risk Matrix 2000) because there hasn’t been enough of them in the groups studied to have an accurate representative sample. That’s how few there are
