A powerful explosion occurred on Friday night in the village of Varagë, Zubin Potok, severely damaging the Ibër-Lepenci water canal.
This canal is essential for the supply of drinking water to around 700 thousand inhabitants of Kosovo and for cooling the turbines of KEK thermal power plants.
At least that is what the CEO of the “Iber-Lepenci” company, Faruk Mujka, said, who described the incident as a terrorist act, emphasizing the critical importance of this system.
He added that emergency teams are working to repair the damage and it is hoped that operation will be restored within a few hours.
“It is a terrorist act; I think it’s the first time in post-war Kosovo that such a vital infrastructure has been attacked. The explosive device was placed in the main canal and has prevented free circulation. The main canal supplies 700,000 residents of Kosovo with drinking water and supplies KEK with turbine cooling. This pipe is currently out of operation.”
PM Kurti: “This is a criminal and terrorist attack that aimed to damage our critical infrastructure. The attack was carried out by professionals. We believe it comes from gangs directed by Serbia. If the damage is not repaired, then part of Kosovo risks being left without electricity by morning,” Kurti said in an extraordinary press conference. “This is the third attack in recent days that has targeted our institutions. And it was intended to incite fear. Such attempts will fail because the constitutionality in our country, the rule of law, order and our Republic cannot be defeated by anyone,” Kurti said. Kurti also announced that immediately after the conference he will meet with the KFOR commander and has called a meeting of the Security Council.”

This is terrible that has happened.
Is there any proof or any clues as to who could have done such a thing? So far, it looks like the usual name-calling and finger-pointing. There must be some CCTV footage or something, right?
Serbian List demands KFOR and EULEX investigation
The Serbian List has strongly condemned, as it stated, the “destruction” of the Ibar-Lepenc canal in the village of Varage, in the municipality of Zubin Potok, stressing that this attack has endangered the water supply of citizens and caused unrest among Serbs in the North.
“We want to make it clear that this act is absolutely contrary to the interests of the Serbian people and we demand an urgent investigation of this case from KFOR and EULEX,” the Serbian List statement said.
Fun times ahead
There is Russia in the Balkans and respects no boundaries.
Of course, we are literally dealing with mini-russia in all aspects. There can be no negotiations with what is the continuation of the milosevic regime.
I hope they find these terrorists and they get what they deserve.

Hopefully there will be an independent international investigation on this.
Strategically speaking this is only in the interest of Kosovo but it is hard to believe that they would risk to shoot in their own foot like Serbia did.
Biden days are numbered and Trump is not a good news for Kosovo. This could be used as the argument to get some approval to take some actions that would likely be impossible in the next 4 years.
One thing is certain, if it can be repaired in a few hours and it ends with this, this is either a show made by someone for some purpose or a terroristic act of some small and not very capable group that isn’t sponsored by any state.
