I know this is going to ignite a complete shit-storm, but the Ukrainian people voted to be an independent nation… as permitted by the then CIS. The the-President George Bush Senior infamously advised Ukraine against seeking independence.
You know what? FUCK what the de-jure President of the US says. Ukraine voted for freedom, and freedom they must have. If the USA is sick of supporting Ukraine, *get the fuck out of their way*.
My parents were tasked to work at our local poll in Donetsk (Donbas, Ukraine). They were convinced that only a few people will show up and they’ll be home for dinner…. Parents returned home only by morning, because the lines of voters were unending. There was no apathy, people of Donbas wanted to be heard.
