If only we had a green policy focused party
We have a habit of missing these once in a lifetime opportunities because we’re too busy trying to look after cronies

Why the flip look at capital intensive and hyper centralised energy production now instead of looking at cheaper and decentralised energy first?
I am a very very pro green energy person but i think economically hydrogen is a waste of time.
Simply put the process to create and store the hydrogen takes a lot of energy that in 99% of potential use cases will be better put elsewhere.
As an energy storage method it is highly inefficient and the majority of use cases will find that plugging into the grid or even batteries are a more economical and efficient use of energy
We also need to be careful because there are bets being made that if hydrogen wins out as an energy carrier that “green hydrogen” won’t be enough to meet demand. Thus creating demand for hydrogen from grey and blue sources i.e. from fossil fuels
Ireland has a once in a lifetime opportunity to _not squander our renewable energy generation capacity_, by giving it away to Data Centers or to ~~Hydrogen production~~ furtherance of Fossil Fuel industry infrastructure.
Ask any Physicist about the Electricity > Hydrogen > Electricity energy conversion efficiency, versus just _using the source Electricity_ (including over more/bigger interconnectors) – and it is immediately clear that hydrogen is just a massively inefficient waste of renewable energy.
What do you do with the excess? What’s wrong with industry?

Like the rest of Europe there is an issue with funding and the huge cost of infrastructure. It’s a great idea but it will not happen for Ireland. They have explored many options but the cost involved in building these high pressure lines is so far out of our budget that it is not feasible.
Remember if your going to bake a €5 cake in one hour, you’re much better off spending a year training a baker for €10000 to bake the cake.
FFFG will spend so much time arguinging internally about which cronies should get the deals that the opportunity will pass us by. The only things they seem to understand are being a tax haven for America, exploiting tenants, and giving backhanders to their inner circle.
Why, in the ever loving fuck, do we put up with this bullshit?
