**NOTE:** This coat of arms was published for the first time [in DeviantArt on the 21st April 2017](https://www.deviantart.com/ramones1986/art/Lesser-Coat-of-Arms-of-Greater-Monaco-676211236), with posterior narrative adjustments.

      **CONTEXT AND DESCRIPTION:**

      >From the scenario(s) where the Grimaldis aren’t just the Sovereign Prince of Monaco, but also hold their sovereignty over the [County of Nice](https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Comt%C3%A9_de_Nice.svg&lang=fr&uselang=fr); the region in general, while they’re indeed within the Occitanosphere, the Vivaro-Alpin/Gavot variant was prioritized as they strived for distinctiveness from their larger neighbors; in fact, (ATL/AU) Niçard belongs to this variant.
Directly derived from the [greater Monegasque coat of arms](https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Coat_of_arms_of_Monaco.svg), the lesser variant is a simple combination of the [Grimaldi coat of arms](https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coat_of_arms_of_Grimaldi.svg) (courtesy of [Mathieu CHAINE](https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:SanglierT)) with the [Princely Crown](https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Princely_Crown_of_Monaco.svg) (courtesy of [Glasshouse](https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Glasshouse)) at the top; it is used by the ATL Monegasque Government (OTL counterpart: *Conseil départamental de Alpes-Maritimes*).
