Have joined several free-to-go Whatsapp groups in our area, seems like this is maybe a more formalized approach (and for toys specifically).
The groups have been brilliant to get baby bits and pass ours on. Clothes in particular suit this as nothing fits for long!

Very common in Australia. Pretty good but the buy nothing/ community gifting are probably better tbh
