Besides the Russian Su-57, it becomes the first fifth-generation air superiority fighter of European origin.
Amidst the peaking aggressions by the Kremlin war machine, it gains more importance for the EU to invest in domestic technologies, rather than relying on the US defense industry. It’s pretty shocking that neither UK nor France have competitors in the fifth-gen industry – only Turkey and Russia.

Every time I see new 5th gen fighter, which is new thing for that region, makes me remember that F-22 is 5th gen and entered service in 2005 with first prototype flight in 1997, reminder how ahead in technology US military is.
Not a surprise when you have absolutely absurd budget.
