For anyone wondering, she is upset at this because she had a guaranteed win in the 2nd round of elections. After the far-right fascist, genocide endorsing, anti-NATO, anti-EU, “the state is brainwashing you” guy led the 1st round of the elections every major political party (besides the Russian backed one) formed an alliance to support her as the president. So she had virtually 0 chance of losing in the election. Now things are very uncertain.

I saw the statement. Look, I voted for her and will probably do so again. But it is really **not the time** to be making inflammatory statements like this.

Another politician that doesn’t understand the difference between an election and democracy.
She thinks she was going to win, or she’s simply dumb. Either way, safe to disregard this dumb statemment.

Lasconi is not president-material, nor cg. She made a big mistake with this statement. CCR is the only institution in Romania which can validate or invalidate or cancel the election. They cannot continue to allow the second tour election for presidency, as an external and demonstrated power – rusia – interfere with election process, sustaining an candidat not suitable to be part on any Romanian institution, least as a president.

We need to acknowledge that we are in a state of war.

we so strongly believe in democratic values and the wisdom of our people, we even cancel the elections so wrong person can’t win

It’s very funny. The EU countries are beginning to look more and more like the very autocratic states that they dislike so much.
I love hypocritical people. It’s so much fun to make fun of them

I’ve said it in other posts, but you can not have a democratic election when one side has the backing of a foreign state and has broken every campaign rule.
It’s a dangerous move, it came too late, but it is the constitutional move to protect our democracy and not signal that our elections are open to ‘any country’ that wants to put it’s dick in them.
There are also very high chances that she would’ve lost, it was a neck-in-neck election and, sorry, but you can’t tell me that you are willing to ignore electoral and constitutional laws if you care about having free and fair elections.

Reddit in shambles.
And on a somewhat related matter, for all the talk about the platform formerly known as Twitter being fascist is there a more anti-democratic and illiberal, platform than Reddit right now?

What trampled on democracy is the interference of Russia, local interlopers, corrupt politicians and everyone else who ran the campaign that broke so many minds. It seems like democracy in the era of TikTok and Russian psyops needs to be different from what we’ve had so far. We will never know how things could have been if Georgescu won, but that for sure posed a much greater risk to democracy than this

The Romanian state tries to save democracy.
They want to make sure that this wasn’t Romanias last election.
A vote against democratic rule is a vote that does not count.
There, I said it, now cry me a river.
