Take a look at the very successful privatizations carried out in the UK … and, where things are at now ….

It’s been an unmitigated disaster in England. But then you see, on the one hand a small group of already wealthy people get the opportunity to make even more money, and on the other hand, the rest of us can get screwed

Hell! What do you think, what you get with a fascist government? Paradise for small people?
Every right wing government, and I mean every, fucked over the majority of their citizens.
Because if right wingers talk about „us“, they seldom mean you. Only their wealthy buddies are in their group, the normal citizens are just prey.

Uk here – no no no big mistake. There are no regional competitors, so the companies do what they want.

Capitalism does not work for goods and services you cannot choose to go without or choose between. It just becomes extraction – water, power, education, health, defense.
It can supply these things, but cannot be these things

Dont do it, it will be a disaster like in Britain!

That’s a great idea amidst a growing issue with access to water. Weren’t Italian farmers rationing water this summer because of drought conditions?

HOW a naturally monopolistic basic resource like water could even be proposed to be privatised? What’s the fucking point of doing it?
A private company will by definition make it more expensive. Even under the circumstances where it’s magically done very efficiently, whatever the fuck that means, it would still COST to the taxpayers MORE money because a private company is by definition more inefficient (layers, more stakeholders and for-profit) than a state run monopolistic enterprise.
Te hell?

Privatization is done when it is believed that the free market will do a better job of providing the privatized element. The question is, how is the free market supposed to do a better job where is natural monopoly or a series of monopolies? There is no possibility of competition in the case of water, because no one will create alternative water supply systems and water intake sources.
If I were Italian, I would take to the streets and abolish the government and those in office who propose such a stupid thing.

They tried to do this in Ireland, but we had protests. It’s not over, though, and they’ll try again. Services like these shouldn’t be privatised, but all that does is value profits over everything else.

If you need more proof that right wing politicians give literally no fucks about their county and only thinks about stealing as much as possible: Berlusconi already tried this move in 2011 and Italy had a referendum on the topic. More than NINETY-FIVE percent of the voters voted against privatization of water and yet in the following years they found workarounds to still profit from public water in some form… and now they’re at it again.

Don’t do it Italy. My water company said it needed a 60% rise in bills to stay solvent after spending the last decades dumping raw sewage into seas and rivers and not investing in infrastructure so we have water shortages every summer. We’re benefitting soo much from our freedom to choose from one regional monopoly in each region in England!

Ok, so what you wanna do is to look at what the UK and Thatcher did, and then do the complete opposite.
Private water in the UK has been and still is by far the biggest lie ever told.
All we got from it is polluted rivers, lack of investment in current infrastructure, while the shareholders who are mostly pension funds outside the UK keep getting more and more money, leading to things like Thames Water facing collapse because of its huge dept.
