I remember renting a room at college for £50 a week while earning £10 an hour pouring pints at the weekend in 1999/00 and then having a flat for myself after college for €400 a month and working full time.
I genuinely feel for young people, my own young kids included as they are not going to have the craic we had back then at college and during early working life.
I was in college at the time. Looked to rent a double room in a house in Phibsborough. Room would have been €600 before bills.
I imagine it’s probably doubled or tripled in price since.
