Il partito di Magyar, sfidante di Orban, è in testa ai sondaggi a due cifre. Il sostegno al partito al governo del primo ministro ungherese Viktor Orban si sta ulteriormente erodendo

Time to give Orban back to Putin
Magyar’s rise has been incredible. He gave this historic speech at European Parliament only one month ago:

Let’s temove Putin’s puppets out of the EU one by one.
Hungary getting rid of Orban? Man, I’ve been praying for this.
Also, is there someone from Hungary that can tell me what Magyar stands for? Like what are the policies he stands for or against?
The time for Orban to declare an emergency and rule by emergency meassures has come.
Orban is going to assassinate him.
That would be great. But we have to wait, we all know dictators dont play after the rules
This is hopeful. It’s still a year to the elections, right? So a lot can change still.
Isn’t this guy a former member of Orban’s party?
The question is – is this guy a putin plant too?
Crazy how support for the right-wing seemingly just melts away the more money Russia loses and is therefore less willing to invest in far-right movements across Europe.
When are the elections ?
It’s really impressive how Orban manages to lose despite having almost total media domination to the point where his “illiberal democracy” is a pretty accurate term
Are early elections even possible in Hungary?
I caution everyone against being too optimistic just yet.
His party mostly exists on paper still at this point – they have like 20 members. They have, at best, a year to find 106 candidates for the elections (and some more for the party list, too), assuming that the Orbán government doesn’t decide to call a snap election before their popularity declines even further.
Also, Fidesz has absolutely everything in their hands in this country. Their resources dwarfs everyone else put together, they have completely captured all state institutions, and they have a gigantic propaganda machine. It’s been faltering recently, sure, they haven’t managed to find the right angle of attack on Magyar but there’s no guarantee they won’t.
And above all that, there is the 2/3 majority Orbán’s party has in Parliament. That means they can essentially do whatever they wish. There is no legal obstacle preventing them from changing the constitution, electoral laws, or any other laws however they see fit.
Are these polls as good as they are in the US?
Not going to happen. Orban has been a dictator for decades in Hungary. He will make sure he wins the election by any means necessary, soviet style.
Just you wait, Orban will make him disappear under mysterious circumstances.
We Hungarians are very much looking forward to a change of government, but there is so much sheep that the propaganda media is still working, like in Russia.
I’m already seeing the usual “why do I trust this guy” comments which honestly boil my blood, so let me put this in a way that can be understood even by r/Europe standards.
-guy outs his own wife (Minister of Justice) who pardoned pedophiles, gets the full Fidesz-owned media thrown at him, guy doubles-down and starts leaking one scandal after the other
-guy takes a defunct party and within a span of 12 months made it more popular than Fidesz
-guy invalidates the bitching of old opposition, namely that campaigning country-wide is pointless because anyone not living in Budapest is just a brainwashed idiot, starts campaigning nationwide and actually gets the results for it (see previous point)
-guy basically obliterated opposition parties who were collaborating with Fidesz (MSZP, LMP) with one notable exception (DK) who are slowly but surely eroding in popularity
-guy nominates actual professionals into the EP, not yes-men á la Fidesz who only nominate people based on their loyalty to Orbán
-guy funds his party on civilian donations, rejects funds from political groups and 1%-ers for the explicit reason to maintain transparency and avoid being “proven” by Fidesz as a yes-man of “Brussels”
-guy wants to allow the EPPO to investigate the Orbán-dynasty for corruption. This means that Orbán can get his immunity stripped and tried in court by the EU.
-guy wants to actually implement the reforms recommended by the EU for rule-of-law and get the EU-funds back to the Hungarians from the hands of Orbán and his lackeys
-guy is actively negotiating with other European leaders like Macron or Scholz instead of throwing media-tantrums like Orbán does
Can somebody from Hungary tell me why people are leaving Orbán? Is it because of a state of economy, quality of life or something else?
