I’m curious how the comments would turn around if any of their ethnicities were disclosed.

      >According to the results of the investigations, the stabbing was preceded by the fact that the 64-year-old sexually harassed the 20-year-old by grabbing her buttocks, an exchange of words, and that the 20-year-old opened a folding knife she was carrying with her, so that she made stabbing movements in the direction of the 64-year-old,” the prosecutor’s office said.

      >The woman followed the man, who grabbed the arm she was using to wield the knife, the prosecutor’s office said. She was able to free her arm and stabbed him once in the chest. The man died “within a few seconds,” it said.

Not sure about German law, but the fact that she *followed him after* the groping would rule out self defense in many countries.

She’s fucked. Straight to jail, Karen.

Yeah he’s an asshole and a criminal for groping her butt but following him and stabbing him to death is not gonna fly.

Two wrongs don’t make a right but the more sordid affairs like that, the more some people might decide that groping women (without their consent) is clearly not okay.

I guess if just basic decency isn’t enough of a deterrence factor, perhaps fearing for your life would be one.

A shame she’ll go to jail for this and a shame he died. Then again one less abuser on the streets. I have very mixed feelings about stories like this, but it’s also very hard for me to express sympathy towards the stabbed person…

shouldnt have chased him after with a knive. Thats why we have “Tierabwehrspray”. Which one the animal is in this case, difficult to say.

1 less molester in the world, i dont see any problem here.

A dirty old lecher is dead, and a stabby chick is jailed.

All things considered, not a bad outcome.

First thing if i remember folding knife are illegal in germany
Second the man disegaged and she followed up.
      The man was disarmed.

I understand the self defence, but this is basically a normal case of excess of self defence, with a illegal weapon.

I don’t think anybody will bee in trouble if she had him showered with pepper spray.

Good for her! One less perv in the world, we should thank her instead

I’m against groping, but I’m also against stabbing people to death.

I agree that she could have acted differently, but after hearing similar stories from a close friend(F) living in Germany, I highly assume that this might not have been the first time this lady encountered such harassment and at some point you just can lose your self control and end up doing horrible things. I definitely would lose my mind if I was a woman and encountered such behaviour repeatedly. It makes my blood boil when I hear about stories of similar manner.

In the span of last 6 months or so, she has encountered so many times complete strangers touching her thighs and hands. She has been followed by a group of men a few times and had to run quickly to reach places where people are around. She has encountered four times when a person came to sit close to her in the train and STARTED F*CKING MASTURBATING

And all the stories what she has heard from other woman traveling alone or with female friends.
If I was a woman, I would definitely lose my self control at some point…

While what he did is wrong and should be punished, you cannot do what she did and expect to get away with murder. When you pull out a knife and follow someone, after arguing with them, then it’s not self defense. She should have just stopped and called the police.

Honestly society doesn’t help, sexual assault/harassment and objectification of women is culturally encouraged here in Germany. No one is going to protect her so she protects herself.

    14. if he did indeed grope her, im not saying he deserves to be dead but i dont care if he is tbh

    15. sirmakster on

She went too far with following and stabbing him to death, and she’ll have time to ponder over it in prison, but I hope it sends a message to other sexual offenders and yet-to-be offenders that next time you attempt this shit, be mentally prepared that may be your last day.

    16. cranberryskittle on

      Nothing of value was lost.

Good for the woman, but it’s sad that she’ll have to spend years in prison. If I were serving on a jury in the US for this, I would absolutely vote not guilty.

People here are saying she followed the man but, if you’ve ever been to Kaiserslautern Hbf you know the altercation started in the stairs down from the platform and spilled into the main aisle.

She didn’t really follow him as much as there is only one city exit in the station with just one way to get there.

I live in Kaiserslautern and I’ll say.. the man was a 60 year old migrant from Eritrea who’s probably been doing this his whole life and this is the first time he ever got checked by someone 🤷🏻‍♂️.

The reaction here was just kinda mehhh everyone understands why she did it, doesn’t make it right though.

Who does r/Europe hate more… pervy migrants or American tourists?

He won’t be doing that again. I don’t feel sorry for him. Probably wasn’t the first time he’s done that.

    20. Iant-Iaur on

      1. Punishment does not fit the crime.

      2. Do not grope strangers, ever. They might react in a very unexpected way, up to and including murdering you.

The story is missing some critical facts that make most people’s comments.. premature.

Also, none of the other commenters have actually been to that train station in middle of day; I have.

Idk what the knife looks like… How long and what it’s typical usage is. E.g. sometimes I literally carry a bread knife purely for purposes of cutting bread that I’ve brought with me (eating bread with butter is common in some countries).

We don’t know what exactly the guy did… Touching can be incidental or intentional… It can be momentary or involve trying not to let go. (I’ve experienced the range).

We don’t know what he did when she showed the knife. Was he going away, or merely repositioning (I’ve seen attackers do both, and thereafter make second attempts).

We don’t know what is meant by her actions. Was she walking towards him? Running? Or just keeping the knife between them at a fixed distance with minimal movement on her part?

      I’d love to have video.

As far as the stab, I’d also want more info / to see it. I wouldn’t expect a single non intestines stab to be fatal without pre existing conditions.

I’m also a bit confused that, given the place it happened, that things developed at all. During mid day I’d not feel pressed to use a knife there. It’s not so crowded that people can grope you without anyone realizing what’s going on, and not so quiet that you cannot easily get help. So it suggests extra, missing information.
