Gran parte del Paese è ancora senza elettricità. Alcuni posti non saranno riparati prima del 12. Si tratta di un nuovo record? (A proposito, nessun problema con ESBN che sta facendo un ottimo lavoro visto il danno arrecato).

I don’t remember there ever being more than 1 or 2 days of power outage at a time after a storm. But nearly a week is shocking.
We were left without power for 4-5 days when Ophelia hit back in 2017, thankfully we were (mostly) spared this time round
Ours just came back and hour ago, wasn’t due till this time tomorrow, so fair play to the lads
This was one of the worst storms for a decade : the ESB described the damage as being comparable to Storm Ophelia in 2017, except this time the entire country was hit and the number of faults is much higher.
There are 4,000 ESB staff members working on it, together with 1,000 contractors and even French line crews who have come over to assist.
Unfortunately they’re at the point where they spend the same amount of time to fix a single fault, but restore power to 4 houses instead of 400, so it’s slow going.
There was a snow storm around Stephens day in a 1998 that left us without power for about 3 days.
The number of faults is quiet high but the number of people without power isn’t massive.
I don’t think this is a record. People just forget the hundreds faults with less than a hundred people each when it doesn’t effect them.
Is anyone out of fibre internet? We’ve been down since Saturday morning but seem to be the only ones who have got hit.
given the multiple outages in recent years serious questions need answered. is it down to a lack of tree cuting near power lines or is there more to it that I’m not seeing the full picture about? how come the north fares so much better? what are they doing that esb are not? it’s not acceptable that people are left without power or water for extended periods.
With climate change we can expect storms like this alot more often
I feel really bad for people because it’s December and cold. We were out of power for 2 days and I was so unbelievably cold. No hot water, no shower, water was gone after the first day. We only have one open fire that we could light and that helped a bit. Got very little sleep Friday and Saturday, it was rough.
We’re just lucky we’re not living in a colder climate, for many it would have been bad-bad if temps would go below 0.
The lads in the ESB are great, one fuck up and you’re completely zapped, so I’m happy for them to take their time and get it done right.
The French – A great bunch of lads
