The very existence of billionaires is incompatible with democracy. Unless radical measures are taken to limit personal wealth to a reasonable amount, we will always live under the yoke of a small number of powerful individuals that no one ever voted for.

Isn’t press not owned by billionaires rather rare? I can think of the associated press itself and public broadcasters like BBC in the UK or ARD/ZDF in Germany, but that’s it.
Kind of hard to afford a newspaper outlet on a regular salary…

problem is; with the arrival of internet, written press is now a loss leader. the main way to survive is through either patronage from billionaires (who are right wing by definition), or large-scale small donations (wikipedia, substack, patreon…). the latter being too volatile to provide stable jobs
