one of the ones that split and sunk had been basically chopped and shortened for use in canals and such, instead of just the open ocean ( I guess to get more use out of it? I dunno) I’ll have to dig around and find the article. it split at the seam where they shortened the whole ship. so yeah, maybe not the best choices were made not sure about the other one. they were both older ships and basically uninsurable to normal carriers .
