Presumably they’re exaggerating as they have a track record for pretending theyre on the verge of collapse.

Why haven’t they saved for this and insured themselves against such foreseeable disruptions?

How will they collapse? Are goods not just leaving from other ports in the UK now?

    4. Why would the Irish government pay out private business for an act of God which occurred in another country?

Surely this would be, if anyone, the UK’s responsibility?

Do they not have insurance that covers this?

It’s not as if their business model is broken once the port is reopened in January things will go back to normal.

Well we have trucker in chief as the Ceann Comhairle now so maybe she can blame this on immigrants and negotiate our money way to her buddies

Why don’t the haulers just charge more to drive further and pass the cost onto the consumer. Which is what I suspect will happen regardless of state aid

More inflation & surcharges coming to a shelf near you soon.

It’s a case of the boy who cried wolf with this lot. For the last 20 years they’ve been on the verge of collapse. And yet here they are still predicting their extinction in brand new trucks. Fuck off, we don’t need half the shite in the containers anyway
