Gela isn’t popular at all. He has always been pro-Azeri. Some (pro-European) Armenian political analysts tried to have contact with him to have an input in the understanding of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, especially after the Second Nagorno Karabakh war. How Azerbaijan is acting as Putins dog/club against Armenia, when Armenia is trying to diversify from Russia (to EU), but no effect in his understanding, he still continues to spit Azerbaijani propaganda.
In short, no, he isn’t liked at all, by the people that know him.
