      OPW is not fit for purpose.
      It’s employees are incapable of overseeing projects within budget, and there is no sanction for their incompetence.

      Funny enough, I actually know the company and some of the individual engineers who actually installed this (formally mckeon group, now called Hereworks).

      1. The images being shared make it purposefully look tiny 2) the work included nearly all of the surrounding roads and paths being dug up, cables, barriers and such installed, and roads redone. 3) alot of costs were on hardware and equipment which were top spec’d.

      The only ‘unnecessary’ costs were on custom design elements, like the roof, but overall it’s not a comparatively overpriced build.

      There’s hill to die on (bike sheds, Asylum modular homes scam, Childrens Hospital), but this isn’t one of them after I looked into it. Also don’t take my word alone, do your own research too:

      I’d genuinely love to know how many people who were rightly outraged by this hut, and the bike shed, also believe that the answer to the housing crisis is a state building company.

      Look at the Tokyo resilience project and it will show you how much if a fucking disgrace and failure we are at infrastructure due to corruption and greed.

      The Japanese take pride in their country and improving it unlike our scumbag self serving politicians.

      For 100 billion they are disaster proofing the whole city of Tokyo. Think about the complexity of this and then our gombeen Muppets can’t build a hospital for 3 fucking billion.
