Italy suffers the same fate in the Northern flats during some weather patterns, it’s because the mountains around the area block all air currents.

“Significantly worse than anywhere in India”. It’s hilarious how there’s room to slander India even under a post about Poland.

Because they don’t allow 3rd world country workers to come and breathe the polluted air they recognise as “home”.
But they’re still better off like this
We live in Czech Silesia and this morning we needed to get to central Moravia. We cut it through Poland as it’s quicker. We couldn’t see a shit on the roads due to the thick smog, and I couldn’t believe my eyes in one of the Polish villages – we came across two cars in a row whose drivers weren’t even using headlights. The smog disappeared around Ostrava.

I was going yesterday through some poland cities like Kalisz and other small towns and the smell was very horrible. Probably because many people use wood to heat their house

Forgot to mention a significant chunk of energy goes to export to Germany? They removed power plants, and they suck electricity from Poland and Scandinavian countries.

Krakow area is notorious for poor air quality due to burning poor quality fuel fires in winter, ex-soviet cars, the valley basin absorbing pollution and the the nearby factories.

What did you expect to happen with this energy mix?
The worst thing is that it constantly poisons the northeastern tip of Czechia (Silesia), where they managed to massively decrease polluting factors and put billions into it, but it was for nothing cause because the air gets imported from Poland now..

855 Grams of CO2 equivalent per kilowatt-hour (gCO2eq/kWh) measuring the greenhouse gas emissions from generating electricity 🙁 https://app.electricitymaps.com/zone/PL/24h/2024-12-28T10:00:00.000Z
Edit: deleted Air pollution= high gCO2eq/kEh – but there is a correlation
