The church in Armenia has become the last bastion of evil since we got rid if Serjik and Kocharyan. Church leadership is openly pro-Putin and pro-our old dictators, they are cartoonishly corrupt criminal pedophiles. I mean how can a bishop afford a Bentley Continental?
Our catholicos is the ultimate evil, rumors are that he used to be one of the key drug dealers in Armenia before the new government crackdown.
Low level clergy are 50/50. Some are amazing people while others are subhuman pieces of s**t.
Didn’t watch yet, but I can say the church is one of the most corrupt and disgusting institutions we have today. And they’re not isolated cases.
In Armenia church members own businesses and drive fancy cars. They meddle in politics under the guide of “Armenia’s protectors”
In Israel, they sold the Armenian quarter for money then escaped to the US.
In Canada, we have cases like Bagrat doing shit, I’ve had a relative serve there, i can’t disclose but there is nasty shit that happens.
In Syria/Lebanon, they start charging you money involuntarily when you turn 18, and if the time comes you want to marry or have someone to bury, they will outright refuse unless you pay them money you never signed up for (other than the costs). If the people like you, and you’re due to go up ranks, they order you to serve in countries where you’re doomed and no longer a rising member. Let’s not forget the Lebanese catholicos came to Armenia years ago and asked the government to stop giving ME Armenians citizenship, during serj era. These guys even sent demands for pashinyan to resign all the way from Lebanon, Syria, Iran. Imagine them putting demands from different countries. And how can we forget in Armenia pushing for koch/serj era to come back.
It’s almost impossible to get divorce papers from them, they doom a lot of women this way under the guise of “saving marriage”.
I’m not religious by any means, but even objectively, overall, fuck the church.
I don’t care what the Armenian church has done or saved throughout history, good for them but that’s in the past. Today’s church has nothing to love about, just like the arf in the past assassinated pashas, but today they’re working against the people.
