      Brexit is shit.

*The EU previously acted as a watchdog on water pollution that could impose fines of millions a week if rules were not being followed.*

*However, the regulator that replaced its role in Britain – the Office for Environmental Protection – does not have the same powers, according to experts.*

*“You can always tell when they’ve released sewage,” she said. “The beach is a bit smelly and there’s always stuff lying around. It’s terrible.”*

      > Brexit is to blame

Victorian-Era infrastructure, decades of chronic under-investment by successive UK governments, a selling off of Water companies, and a laissez-faire attitude to mandating upgrades and maintenance is to blame.

It’s all just coming to a head now that the EU can’t investigate and penalise the UK

This is what “Get rid of all that red tape!” actually means

If they can’t re enter EU(at least for now) why can’t they at least try to uphold their own government to blame and demand them to keep beaches clean from sewage?

Is it that hard for them to make a change in government or petition for it or even protest? I’m asking cuz I’m not British and curious to know, do most Brits accept their beaches being polluted like that?

That £350 million per week savings should be enough for clean up.

(Those who’re wondering, I’m pointing at Brexit bus)

When I was a child, living on the danish west coast, I was told that a lot of the garbage that washed up on the beaches had travelled far, perhaps all the way from England.
It’s not nice sharing a sea with these rivershitters.
