Elon Musk continues flexing his political muscle in 2025, calling for the release of a controversial British far-right political figure and increasing his support for a German far-right party.

Newsweek reached out to the British Home Office by phone and Elon Musk and Reform U.K. leader Nigel Farage by email for comment on Thursday morning.

Musk was a pivotal player in the 2024 U.S. election, spending hundreds of millions of dollars to get Donald Trump elected. Now, the SpaceX founder appears to have set his sights across the Atlantic on Europe and the U.K., prompting accusations of attempted election influence.

just r/EuropeanFederalists Federalize already, USA, Russia, China all can leave with their political influences and shit

could work, there are still enough morons who thin Musk is a genius. well ok, he kinda is, not as an engineer but in lying to make money though.

    4. ChoosenUserName4 on

Sorry, but how is the press coming up with these shitty attention-grabbing headlines all the time. They’re part of the problem. What the fuck does “major push” even mean? Should we all panic and give up? Are we helpless?

    5. Horst_Horstenson on

USA will soon become a hostile nation towards europe, time to get rid of our dependence on them. We kinda need european nukes even

    6. Sekhmet_Odin7 on

I know, Brits won’t fall for this twice, right? …. Right?

    7. axelyh78 on

How come this guy is so involved politically in europe and the us BUT NOT SOUTH AFRICA. His opinions are ass imho, but why get involved in everything but your own country of origin?? Makes me feel like he has ulterior motives.

If oligarchs boosting the far-right only caught your attention now, you’ve not been paying attention for the last couple of decades.

It’s not just Musk that should be banned and prevented from doing that. It’s also Rupert Murdoch, Vincent Bolloré, and many others who put billions into constituting far-right medias empires.

This is not a matter of one eccentric moron, this isn’t even a matter of Putin: this is a class war, and right now they’re winning it. But they fear they may lose someday, so one by one they drop the mask and breed their usual attack dog: the far-right. They promote lies and climato-skepticism, division, skew entire elections towards the likes of Trump, Meloni, Le Pen, Milei, etc

This is going to backfire, most people over here dislike him.

    10. eugene20 on

In the words of my British late grandfather and his cousin wounded in the war, fuck him and any other nazi.

    11. DependentLaw420 on

As if the Far-Right needed any additional pushing in Europe lmao

    12. SoupSpelunker on

The problem with this fucker is not that he’s a far-right, 3rd generation, nepo-nazi – people with brains have known that for years.

It’s that he’s able to do things like he did in the US election where he started and funded a PAC at the last minute so the disclosure laws wouldn’t be triggered until after the election and *used Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s name to fraudulently push a right-wing narrative.*

The truth is not in the right which is why they must defund education so their lies and deceit can always be guaranteed to fool enough of the people to present a veneer of credibility.

Remember, WWIII started in Crimea in 2014…and the US may have a large minority of it’s population that supports fascism.

    13. VictoriousLlamas_Sis on

I hope the eu will deal with this turd muffin. There should be laws about foreign interference in elections.

    14. It’s all about getting publicity for X and making it seem like a bastion of free speech

Elon Musk is probably on of the biggest threats to democracy and freedom. We can not allow him to transform us into an apartheid oligarchy like the US is becoming.

Ban Twitter. Deplatform him. Stop buying his products. Save Europe.

    16. WaitForItLegenDairy on

There are 500 million people in Europe. If you wanna stop Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos and Co, vote with your money before they use their money to corrupt your votes

    17. What if you change the name Musk in Putin or Xi Jinping… The entire EU and the US would cry havoc. Kick this guy out of the political proces, don’t let the populists get a foothold.

    18. Why do we let them keep operating platforms like Twitter/X/Tiktok whatever…. that are meant for political and electoral interference, disformatiin, psyops, hatespeeech?

That is beyond me, it is either compatible with democracy or shouldnt be able to keep operationg.

    19. in_Need_of_peace on

Why is the global society letting one barrel shaped drug addict try and ruin the world? Fuck this guy

    20. _KimJongSingAlong on

Not a fan of musk or twitter but can’t help the irony that the people that were calling twitter a censorship machine love using twitter now, and that the people that said ‘private company can do what it wants’ are mad that now not the left but the right wing opinion is dominant

    21. How is this not foreign interference? Wtf

Imagine the outrage if Ma Huateng started interfering like this.

    22. slartybartfast6 on

Why isn’t this treasonous and / or foreign interference in elections and treated as such?

    23. SnooObjections102 on

I’m so tired of posts about Elon Musk.

Yesterday the BBC had a front page article about the fact that Elon Musk has changed his name on X. Serial shitposter updates display name on social media profile. Who cares?

Sure, he’s rich and he’s buddies with Trump. But there are lots of rich people and Trump has many buddies. Yet Elon Musk makes global headlines week in, week out, and every time I open Reddit I see endless articles related to him.

I even see his face in shitty ads provoking me to take tests to determine which type of intelligence I have for fuck sake. I’m completely sick of the sight of him.

That’s not to say that we shouldn’t take the threats he poses seriously. But if he wasn’t given so much airtime, perhaps he wouldn’t have so much influence.

The reactions under the newsweek article all all damn tweets. 🤯

Society should be able to sue individuals for damages or attempted damages. Attempting to skew an electionn is an example of societal level damage

People who have influence need to be accountable for how they wield that influence. If they do so carelessly or negligently then it’s aggravated damages

Penalties should be 5% net worth for first offense and increase for subsequent offences

    26. A55Man-Norway on

      What are you afraid of?
      What’s the threat here exactly?

    27. Mental_Magikarp on

That’s the problem of bourgeois “democracies”.
We let the financial elites to fund our political parties and by that, we end up governed by them and their interests, then we Europeans have the gall of criticise Russians and Chinese while we let ourselves be governed by North American oligarchs.

The history repeats, once the magnates and oligarchs want more power or see their power or shares threatened they fund facisms movements, it’s going to be cheaper that than paying the fucking taxes or comply with regulations like in our context, the ones regarding climate change.

    28. This feels more and more like a James Bond movie, starring Elon Musk as the main villain. The question is; will someone save Europe from his evil influence?
