In the US there are a lot of horror stories about panels not working properly and no follow-ip service. A lot of consumers having regretted their purchases, how does this compare to Europe?
Personally, I love the idea, but I’m not sure I trust the the companies that manufacture and install the panels.
Customer demand is waning because of layoffs in the solar panel industry?

I mean after an unprecedented boom you will surely have a slow down.
Also, at some point incentives cease being sufficient, you need now to mandate this stuf in building codes.
Or perhaps high costs of panels/installations and people losing jobs/increasing cost of living?
It’s just not realistic or affordable in current economic climate.
Plus and benefits, subsidies etc are being eliminated.
Residential purchase of solar cells should not be impactful. Industries should already be queueing to get solar farms, which would make residential solar cell installation miniscule (but I know of course, industries need something better than solar for energy source)
But reddit says gas bad panels good, nobody need gas, etc etc
Oh, after spending 20 000 euros on a roof in which the panels are 10% of the cost, they realize need to take into account the total installment cost not the price of panels in a country that has the same solar potential as Alaska.
What a surprise, and now they are wondering why the decline….
So 20y warranty just a marketing move
Let’s squeeze more money from middle class and wonder why they no longer buy expensive stuff…
As someone who works in that area i can surely say its not because of layoffs.
The demand is decreasing because grid provider dont want to pay the 7 cent per kwh (which they sell for 30+) and now want it to be mandetory to rent a device that will decrease the amount of power that is being put into the gird if too much is being put in. The rent price would be 200€ per year … such device costs around 250€ if you buy it …
You mean the prices of everything are so high people can’t buy other stuff because they need to buy food? Who would know.
**residental!**
Utiltiy scale growth made more than up for it.
Just 5 months ahgo there was an article here how balcony PV is booming in Germany. Guess it’s to little to make a difference
Everybody I know already has solar panels, isn’t this just a case of market saturation?
I would own a few if our country wouldn’t force me to sell it back to a provider like EON, so I can buy it back again. (kinda how it works)
I just want to use the electricity directly, is that too much too ask? But nooooo that would cut profits of the big corp….
I’m sure Germans will still be able to get them on Temu, like everything else.
RIP, German economy.
Sell in the east. We need them. Badly.
Isn’t Germany building solar farms or only wind ? Because these things are huge in terms of panels.
edit: oh residential. nevermind.
Or is it because most customers that could install PV have already done so? (Saturation point)
German energy companies are fucking homeowners over, that’s why
Solar panels are still expensive and only well off people can afford it and a sort of bells and whistle upgrade to the house. They are almost useless in winter when the energy price soars and to fully utilise them in summer one must have either an EV or a battery, both are expensive toys. No surprise people cut this luxurious budget off their purchase list in times of a declining buying power.
A lot of people who can afford solar and have the right circumstances for installation already have solar and don’t need to swap it out anytime soon. It’s a market with finite domestic growth.
Oh, no, what a surprise!
Retarded country ruled by idiots, that eviscerated their own citizen’s disposable income and majority of industries, is now too poor to afford the Holy Grail Of Saving The Planet, a god damn solar panel (at latitude of fucking Montreal)
I am so shocked.
Well, not that shocked.
This is either badly translated, poorly written or propaganda.
So many anti solar new stories with no basis in fact or statistics.
Ireland is currently beening flooded in new untility solar installs and from what I’ve seen happening from reliable news sources, solar is going into overdrive around the world.
I somehow doubt Germany is just stopping solar out of the blue.
This (the article) is obviously faulty use of DeepL, but hey…. is anybody else surprised that Solar is floping in a country with literally 120-150 sunny days? Nobody gets a hard-on on ”green” s..t like Germans.
This does not make sense!
