“Sweden, Lithuania and the Czech Republic have not been granted visa-free access by Beijing, with analysts citing Taiwan among likely factors”

I mean, who cares, it’s not like there are many reasons to want to go to China. Taiwan is better in basically all aspects.

OP himself is Taiwanese. I understand your desire to reject changes to the status quo by attacking Beijing and aligning yourselves with Europe. But justice is not in favour of all. We defend Ukraine’s sovereignty because the Bielovezh Agreement stipulated that sovereignty over Crimea and the four eastern oblasts belonged to the Kiev regime. Russia wants to undermine this international law, and we will oppose it. Similarly the abrogation of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, the Potsdam Proclamation and the San Francisco Agreement stipulate that Taiwan belongs to China, whether it is the People’s Republic of China in Beijing or the Republic of China in Taipei. The only point of contention is which regime is more legitimate. The whole world, including Taipei, adheres to the one-China principle. In Europe, only the Vatican supports the Taipei regime as the legitimate regime in China. A small number of politicians in these countries conduct erroneous diplomatic relations against the principles of international law because of their own agendas, just as someone conducts diplomatic relations with the Donetsk Republic. We should oppose it as well. If we go against international law because of our interests, it is tantamount to giving everyone else a reason to go against law and order.

China is a bad place to visit as a tourist anyway

Is this supposed to be some sort of punishment? If yes, then I, as a UK national (who also does not “benefit” from this visa liberalisation) feel like we are in great company. There are a lot of other friendly countries worth visiting, and China is definetely not one of them in my book.

They probably spend more time on their policy decisions than I do deciding which pajamas to wear for a trip to the grocery store.

Sweden, Lithuania and the Czech Republic should be wearing this badge with pride.

I am Lithuanian and travel to China frequently. I do live in the UK and apply for a visa here. They only give me a temporary one for 6 months/2 entries. Every time I apply they tell me to apply in your country to get a longer one and every time I have to tell them that China closed the embassy in my country. They always look perplexed lol
