Orange. The left lane is for straight (ish) / continuation of main road. Right is for going beyond it.
Unless they’ve arrows painted indicating otherwise, I’d go with orange.
Anything after 12 O’Clock – right hand lane. Red lane.
Right hand or red lane. However there’s no direction on the road so you can use either lane. As per the RSA rules of the road.

My driving instructor, for another vehicle category test I did in 2024, said if your exit is beyond 12 o’clock from where you are (like here) it’s the red lane.

There are no markings on road suggesting otherwise, so you might use the left lane in this case.
However some people swear that if the exit is slightly past the 12 o’clock position (like it is here) then you should use the right hand lane. Problem is that often you can’t tell exactly where the exit is until you’re on a roundabout, particularly on a big roundabout with bushes in the middle.
I’d probably go for the orange lane myself. Others will be along shortly to disagree. Probably indicative of a shit design really.
The sign on this roundabout indicates that this is a 12 O clock exit (despite it looking visually past 12 O clock, the sign depicts a typical roundabout). You should go into the orange lane.

Not sure why people are talking about “after” 12 O’Clock. The exit is at precisely 12 O’Clock.
Both the road sign and the road markings indicate you should be entering the roundabout in the Orange Lane.
SHould they make it clearer with arrows painted on the Orange/Red lanes – absolutely. But, in the absence of good road management, the rules are still clear for those paying attention (but people unfamiliar with the roundabout may struggle)
Either lane if no markings. The problem with roundabouts is not many people go round a roundabout in the designated lanes, they cut across both lanes.
I would take the orange lane. The blue land is only slightly past twelve.
I was taught that you assign lane based on the signage, not the roundabout, which makes sense in that there would be a lot of edge cases where geography might dictate a lane is somewhat “out of position” so someone who hasn’t used the roundabout before couldn’t get it right
Orange. The first and second exit are served by the left hand lane (outside), unless there are specific markings telling you to use the right hand (inside) lane.
There used to be a TV ad by the RSA explaining it.
Additionally, no one should use an exit from the inside lane. No matter how many exits there are, or what the markings say, as soon as you pass the exit before the one you mean to take you should be moving to the outside lane.

I’m familiar with this round about and I’m surprised there aren’t more accidents.
Orange is the correct lane unless otherwise indicated but most people use the other lane. It’s not helped by some other round abouts in the town saying to use the left lane for the first exit only and not for going straight ahead (these ones are indicated but gets people in the habit of using the wrong lane / sows confusion imo).

The consensus in the comments is to use the orange lane as its less risky. But the reasons given for doing so (if you use the red you have to watch the behaviour of the person on your left before trying to exit) would also apply to someone taking the 3rd exit. So whats the value of the red lane at all? Two lane roundabouts are a bollix.
If you were the small truck driver who beeped me Thursday night for this, my apologies. I took the orange to exit exactly at the blue and had done so a few times on quiet days without any problems. However this time the truck came from the far exit quote quickly and I didn’t see them and they beeped me into next year. I couldn’t understand what I done wrong, but I also knew i was in the wrong somehow. It’s a difficult roundabout if you don’t drive it often. Glad it’s a known thing amongst more experienced drivers.

I thought general rule here is left lane is for left or straight on. Right lane is for right turn. Unless directed otherwise by road markings/signs

if you were at red, you would end up crossing into the inside lane for a bit, then crossing back out to to the outside lane to get to blue. if someone didnt notice that that was weird then it means theyre probably on their phone or something
