Quest’estate la mia ragazza (veniamo da un altro paese dell’UE) è stata violentata in un club di Berlino ed è stata portata in ospedale in ambulanza. Oggi ha ricevuto una lettera dalle berliner feuerwehr contenente una fattura di 299€ per l’utilizzo dei loro servizi. Aveva con sé la tessera sanitaria europea blu e l’ha mostrata in ospedale. Mi sembra sbagliato: lo scopo della carta UE non è forse quello di non dover pagare i servizi medici? Facendo una rapida ricerca su Google ho scoperto che potrebbe essere necessario effettuare un ticket di massimo 10€. Cosa ne pensate di tutto questo? Sulla lettera c’è il numero di telefono di qualcuno e ho intenzione di chiamarlo domani, ma ho pensato di vedere cosa ne pensate.

The ambulance came from the firefighters, not the hospital.
First of all, I am very sorry about your girlfriend and hope she is fine. I would say write to Insurance, hospital and the Berliner Feuerwehr. Generally ambulance bill comes when you could go to hospital on your own, but you did not and neglected by using resources of hospital, resources that could be used for those in need. I do not think that it applies in your case.
I think it can also happen that you would need to pay and claim the cost in your home country at your insurance company. You may check with them as well

I think calling the clerk tomorrow is a good idea. There’s a bunch of reasons why you can receive one of these letters, the easiest explanation is that they (the fire department) didn’t take your insurance details.
Btw, it would have been nice if you had censored the name, email and number of the clerk too…
