Domenica 5 gennaio è stata scoperta una misteriosa mongolfiera nella storica regione della Masuria, nel nord della Polonia. Le autorità ritengono che sia entrato in territorio polacco dalla Russia. Lo riferisce RMF FM.
Il pallone è stato trovato in una foresta vicino alla città di Prostki, nel voivodato di Varmia-Masuria. Lo hanno scoperto i forestali che hanno informato la polizia.
I primi controlli hanno confermato che l’oggetto è un dispositivo meteorologico, utilizzato per misurare la temperatura e altri dati.
Sul palloncino erano visibili segni in cirillico. I funzionari polacchi sospettano che provenisse dalla regione russa di Kaliningrad.

For once, seems reasonable to presume no nefarious business. Hard as it may be, as by now puppies and kittens from russia would be suspicious.
Story doesn’t make a hell of a lot of sense, bizarre choice of tech for a weather balloon. Russia doesn’t have a shortage of hydrogen (easy to produce from electrolysis, natural gas, or metal/acid reaction) or helium and meteorological balloons are usually gas balloons – easier to manage, launch, and automate.
A hot-air balloon is more likely to be homemade. I wonder if someone used it to escape from Belarus or occupied Königsberg and no one wants to admit it. This method has been used to escape from East Berlin during the Cold War.
