Finally, a life sign from the EU. But seriously… A soon-to-be US President says he can’t rule out military action against an EU country and the only response from the EU is coming from the French foreign secretary?!

No matter if Trump actually means what he’s saying or if he just wants to make people ignore all the other dangerous stuff he’s doing (probably both…): The EU needs to finally wake up and speak up. In unison. Not through some side remarks made by one foreign secretary.

Good on France ! Eu should be strong and should dictate what is toleranted and what is not! We are 27 countries ffs. The dollar is only strong because of we believe in it. We should definitely use this as a bargain on trump.

    3. Listened to him this morning on France Inter (biggest radio here). He needs to consult and stand up with the all of the EU against this Agent Orange

Have to remember that USA in cooperation with Putin is waging war against Europe. Only an idiot is going to sane wash Trump or dismiss this as nothing more than just talk.

I am still waiting prime minister of Greenland and Denmark to condemn Trump.

Very based frenchmen! But what happens if eurosceptics come into power in France? We just need some sort of european defence, maybe a shared and larger arsenal of nuclear weapons even

Greenland, a place where 55000 people live, who are represented by a leader who wishes for full independence from Denmark, should decide for itself.

It would be silly to let this damage NATO and the security relationships we all have.

All Europe needs to do is say it’s up to the people of Greenland to decide.

The EU (and Europe more broadly) needs to get its act together and become much more assertive against competitors or we all get picked apart Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth style.

The UK’s Euroscepticism was/is a mistake. The post-Cold War consensus is ending and we’ve entered a multi-polar world full of aggressive actors who will pursue their own national agendas first and foremost and we all need to collectively do the same.

What the fuck is NATO general secretary doing these days??

Weak response, why is EU not calling US ambassadors in Europe to warn them .

I don’t think he’s joking, Europeans should take him seriously. They need to understand that America is for Americans, from Alaska to Patagonia, that is Manifest Destiny.

You thought Greenland was far away from Kosovo, but Kosovo will reach you in Greenland tomorrow.

Thinking of all those countries that choosed to buy US military equipments, like F35 for exemple, instead of their european counteparts. Looking at you DE,PL and CZ.

If thing goes south diplomatically it will be fun to see their expensive toys grounded beceause some fucker pushed a red button in Washingtown. You think I’m tripping ?That would never go that far with allies ? Well, they did that already to french carrier when they refused to go at war in Irak in the 2000’s. And it was “only” Bush, so now imagine what Trump could do…

Central europe needs to understand that USA is NOT the good guy, nor a reliable ally. It is maybe slighty better than russia was in it’s time, short term, but this is not the way.

Macron gets a lot of hate but he’s the only one saying the right things, at least when we’re talking about the EU. Am I crazy here?

He seems to be the only one defending the EU.

    15. Nono6768 on

Greenland is not a EU member. That being said we should maybe fast track their accession if they desire to join

    16. Maybe France could station nuclear weapons in Cuba, just for security purpose.

    17. FantasyFrikadel on

At this point I think we can just have a single response for anything this guy says:

“We know Trump, both what he stands for and his tactics.”

And in the background prepare and be ready for a conflict. Military spending increase and spending it in Europe and manufacturing done in Europe.

We are in a time where we let a few mafiosi come into incredible power, and we if don’t want to lose our cosy lives we’ll have to be able to put these mafiosi back in their box.

I recommend you all watch: “
On the Waterfront”. An old movie with Marlon Brando about beating back the mob.

First step: Deny entry into Europe for the whole Trump clan, Musk and the Maga crazies.

    19. DutchHiggins on

Macron is absolutely right to stand up to Trump.

I don’t know why he is hated so much due to pension reforms. France has a serious budget deficit and there’s no way to solve that without big public spending cuts or pension reforms.

    20. Just a thought experiment but let’s assume the USA actually takes Greenland by force. Unlikely I know, but let’s assume that for a second. What will the EU realistically do? Fight back against the by far strongest military in the world?

    21. Baphomet2023 on

The US have shown they cannot be a reliable partner nor can they be trusted and are no better than the Russians.

Europe needs now more than ever to be stronger and show a stronger united front and combat this madness.

Also for god’s sake ban X formally known as twitter because Musk is probably the most dangerous looney and is clearly holding Trump’s leash to spread their nazi ideology!

    22. Tartan_Smorgasbord on

France does seem to be making a conscious effort to be filling the space the US is currently vacating as Leader of the free world, certainly from a European perspective.

Ukraine is about to put Dassault Mirages into action and it seems to have taken far less time than getting the F16’s approved and ready, no dithering over red lines from the Kremlin, “you need them?, you want them?, you get them!”

The threat to put French troops on the ground in Ukraine to guard it’s border with Belarus also did not go unnoticed internationally.

    23. Global-Menu6747 on

Americans should understand that 49% of Europeans hate them already. It’s just a little bit more convenient to learn English than Chinese

Your periodic reminder to pay attention to what Trump does not what he says or the next few years are going to be unbearable.

He was asked a simple question which his little ego couldn’t manage so he decided to big dick the response. We forget all the wild stuff he said last time round that never came to pass.

      Keep calm but start preparing!
