* Pro-Russian, anti-EU, and anti-NATO bot networks consistently praise Milanovic and amplify pro-Milanovic content while disseminating anti-EU and anti-NATO messaging.
* Serbian elements of this network are attacking Dragan Primorac and promoting Milanovic.
* The Facebook page associated with SDP/Milanovic demonstrates significant bot activity, particularly in comments and shares.
* Kremlin propaganda outlets and Kremlin-aligned media outlets in other countries take afavorable stance toward Milanovic.
* Flagged disinformation outlets in the region and beyond are also taking a favorable tone to Milanovic.
Do note that bot accounts were found also in support of the other candidate, both on Facebook posts and online polls.
And again, these elections were decided long before any of this. Milanovic has support of the people since the other candidate is a terrible candidate. A politician who lies and is getting money from the government through his private clinic.
Rare occurence that Russian bots support the pro-democratic and anti-corruption candidate, I guess
He got 50% votes more than double than HDZ candidate, in country that is run by mostly by HDZ. Pretty sure that Croats want him as president not because of this campaign.
I hope Europe will force all media and social media companies to make their algorithms available to be monitored in real time, independently, which would sort it all out. Or open source.
Degenerate billionaires like musk (twitter) would quickly lose interest along with totalitarian dictatorships like china (TikTok) and Russia (maga bots being promoted by algos)
It might even create the opportunity for home grown alternative platforms. India is a great example of success in this area since they banned TikTok and other terrible Chinese apps.
everything that is not by the leftists is anti-EU, anti-NATO, pro-russian.
you guys want to silence other opinions when people on the other side fight for possibility to share every opinion.
This article is so patronizing. Why are you meddling in our elections? It’s clear that you have no idea what you’re talking about, all you’re basing this analysis on is Ukraine. It’s very, very patronizing. Seems like you’re telling me who to vote for. Ukraine is barely a topic in these elections, people here don’t base their vote based on Ukraine, we have our own issues. Or is that not allowed anymore?
That’s because we have ruling HDZ mafia in power
this article is so misleading for the non-croatian public that it’s insane
for the Croatians seeing this post, we know what’s actually going on,
for the rest of you who don’t understand, the candidate being accused of having russian bot support, Milanović, had 49% of the votes in the first voting round, followed by Primorac with 19% and other now irrelevant candidates
in Croatia it’s widely known that the political party which Primorac represents, HDZ, uses a large amount of bots or people who are paid to agree with everything they say – just a couple months ago when there were parliamentary elections HDZ was caught liking their posts by thousands and thousands of asian name bots, with organized transports from other countries for scum who will take any small amount of money to vote and have their party be in charge. Along with this, Primorac is in general just a horrible person – an unlimited amount of lies, stealing through private health clinics, false information to show himself in a better light even in his fucking CV, and being backed by an insanely corrupt political party, HDZ.
This might not be a great look for Milanović because some people consider him to be more pro-Russia but this is simply not the case – he is pro EU and pro nato, but he is also not a blind follower of whatever is being said, he supports Ukraine in this war but he doesn’t want to send Croatian soldiers there, because Ukraine is not a part of the nato alliance. He is open to economic help but seeing as the president’s role in Croatia isn’t really influental for actual policies, he can’t do much because of the current HDZ government being against absolutely everything he says or does, simply because he is from a different political party.
A few days ago, there was a poll on a Croatian news site asking who the people will vote for, and Primorac somehow got 25000 votes from the USA in a couple of hours, whereas in the last few polls he was 3rd, with Milanović taking first place and “I won’t vote” being 2nd – this should tell you just about everything you need to know about this whole election. People like OP are either being paid by HDZ to post shit like this, or have crazy personal gain from them being in power and by corruption not being pursued
