Europe has already contributed more than twice as much as the US, although the US is ahead on direct military contributions.

That said, Europe has already hugely increased military manufacturing, and *if* the US were to step out, it would no longer be an impossible problem for Ukraine to deal with. A year ago, it could well have been fatal.

Also, I don’t think the US will stop supporting them. I think Trump will demand that ceasefire talks begin, but Russia simply *cannot* allow that to happen. A ceasefire means that :

      1. Russia permanently loses its chance to destroy Ukraine and install a puppet government
      2. Ukraine starts rebuilding infrastructure and industry while constantly building up more weapons
      3. Europe keep manufacturing more and more weapons
      4. Russia have all the cost of their *massive* army but zero benefit
      5. Their economy is under just as much pressure as ever
      6. All of the sanctions stay in place

They simply will not accept this position.

So Trump will be faced with a Russia who refuses to even start negotiating, which is likely to be taken as an insult by him because he’s the most thin-skinned person in the history of humanity.

And he will have been briefed that *if* he decided to stop support, that Europe will step in instead and he will look like the idiot in the room no matter the outcome. Either Ukraine wins and Ukraine/Europe come out the winners, or Ukraine loses and it’s his fault for abandoning them.

Imagine how desperate one should be to trust EU. Imagine.

Talk is cheap. Maybe send Ukraine more long-range missiles? We don’t have to wait on Washington, send them all of the Taurus and Storm Shadows that we have. Give them all of the Leopards and Leclercs. Give them Rafales and Typhoons.

As the old Chinese proverb goes:

“*The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the 2nd best time is now.*”

We’ve been hearing this for years. She’s just a person. She doesn’t control what the EU does. It’s all just wishful thinking and nothing’s gonna come of it, as always

Eastern Europe and the Baltics should take the strategic lead honestly, they just know more than western Europe about Russia

While I’d LOVE for this to be true I’m very very sceptical…

Many EU contries have already gone sour on the support and without the full support we cant do jack shit.

The war has gone on for far too long and all because we trickle supplies to Ukraine.
If the EU is supposed to step up, do it REGARDLESS of the support of the US. Send everything to Ukraine to make sure they have the means to push Russia back.

As much as I hate to admit it the EU doesn’t have the weapons to support at the level required, it has low stocks of everything and produces new heavy equipment (tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery, jets) at a snails pace, because governments refuse to sign long term contracts.

Economies are not doing great either although it should be very possible to continue the financial support.

If ‘Europe ready to double its effort’ why didn’t do it earlier? It’s not like Ukraine has too much help, Ukraine urges for more help all the time, and we find out that Europe ready to double it’s help? >!well that is not really a surprice, by what happened in Europe for thoise 3 years of war it’s clear not much changed for europe to help Ukraine, I mean, in WW2 US asked it’s citizens to give up on their cattles to build war ships to help Europe to fight Hitler!<

Even from the start — Why should a country on the North American continent take lead on something taking place on the European continent when Europe has powerful countries?

Europe must take responsibility of its own security,

Europe needs to strengthen its military and become united, to face the threat from Russia and the US.

Any Europeans that supports Russia or the US over Europe, should be viewed as traitors.

Any American who supports Trump, should be viewed the same way Russians who support Putin are viewed.

Curious to know why it didn’t from day one, giving that the war is right on its borders.
